We continue our series of Player of the Week with some familiar names, (though Dilson Herrera didn’t hit another half dozen homers this week). Our Pitcher of the Week last week went on to win the award for the PCL. Vegas 51s are the only team over .500 and find themselves in first place in the PCL South.

Offensive Player of the Week: T.J. Rivera – Las Vegas 51s

All he does is continue to do that TJ Rivera thing called hitting. For the week a .576/.611/.818 triple slash line, along with 13 RBI bringing his PCL leading total to 40. On the year he ranks second in batting average at .378 to teammate Ty Kelly, fourth in OPS at .980, and first in hits with 56. The echos of giving him his chance at the major league level is reaching a crescendo.

Honorable Mention: Patrick Mazeika – Columbia Fireflies

His Columbia debut was delayed due to injury. What he has done is hit the ground running making up for lost time with a .471/.591/.471 slash line.

Starting Pitcher of the Week: Ricky Knapp (St Lucie Mets)

Knapp pitched a complete game shutout over the Phillies High A team the Clearwater Threshers, whose roster included a rehabbing Cody Ashe. Knapp struck out four, allowing three hits with no walks.

Honorable Mention: Joe Shaw (Col) &  PJ Conlon (Col)

Shaw, the Mets 2015 12th round draft pick was superb in his two starts this past week. In 14 innings of work he allowed three runs and struck out 17, including a career-high 10 verse the RiverDogs.

Another week, another PJ Conlon scoreless outing. Three out of his seven starts this season have resulted without an earned run allowed. He currently leads the South Atlantic League with a 1.07 ERA, allowing only six walks in 43.1 innings.

Relief Pitcher of the Week: Craig Missigman (Columbia Fireflies)

On the week, Missigman pitched 5.2 innings of shutout baseball out of the Fireflies pen. Striking out 5 without walking a batter and allowing only two hits in the process.

Honorable Mention: Beck Wheeler (B’Mets)

On the week, Wheeler struck out 10 in four innings of work, picking up his third save of the season in the process.

Defensive Player of the Week: Luis Guillorme (St. Lucie Mets)

Guillorme returned to his natural shortstop stop for a day allowing the slumping Rosario to DH for a game. He was also a part of four double plays on the week and has played well at second base despite limited experience there.

Honorable Mention: Tomas Nido (STL)

Nido caught 4 would be base stealers on the week, including three in one game. He has now thrown out 44% of would be base-stealers on the year.
