Mets Minors: The Week That Was, 7/8-7/15

Las Vegas 51s

The 51s are currently enjoying the Triple-A All-Star break, and will return to action on Thursday in Reno, which is the site of this year’s All-Star game. Las Vegas went 3-4 this week, losing two of three to Salt Lake, but splitting a four-game set with Tucson.

Binghamton Mets

The Eastern League All-Star break led to a short week for the B-Mets, but they went 5-1 against the Sea Dogs in what was a monster six-game series. It included a pair of doubleheaders, both of which Binghamton swept. They’ve won their last three in a row, and continue running away with the Eastern Division, now holding an 11.5-game lead.

St. Lucie Mets

St. Lucie enjoyed a 4-1 week, which was halted abruptly by Mother Nature this weekend. They’re slowly inching their way up to the top of the standings; their three-game winning streak is the longest in the FSL South Division, and they’re 7-3 in their last 10 games.

Savannah Sand Gnats

Like St. Lucie, the Sand Gnats also saw games get washed out this weekend, and they haven’t played since Thursday. They went 2-1 in their three games this week, taking a series from Augusta. The teams are tight throughout the division, but a 3-7 road record has the Gnats in second-to-last place right now, three games off the pace.

Brooklyn Cyclones

The ‘Clones continue to struggle, going 3-5 this week. They lost the finale at home against Lowell, then went upstate to Auburn to lose three of four to the Doubledays. They’re currently playing the Connecticut Tigers in Norwich, and are looking to take the rubber match today. They’re the only team in the McNamara Division under .500, and it’s because of their 5-12 road record.

Kingsport Mets

The K-Mets have been most affected by the weather this week, playing just once since Wednesday, and getting rained out five times. They went 2-2 in the four games they did play, and are 6-4 in their last ten. They have a doubleheader tonight against the Burlington Royals, and will continue their trek back to .500.

GCL Mets

The Mets had a tough time getting on the field in the GCL, as contests on Tuesday and Wednesday were washed out due to rain. However, it was a tough week after Game 1 of a doubleheader on Monday; they won that first game, but then lost their next five in a row. The second game on Monday was a makeup of a contest from June 27th, so it doesn’t count toward their current losing streak. They have another doubleheader today against the Marlins, hoping to have a good start to this week.
