Mets Minors Weekly Review: Top 80 Update, Montero Starting

Excitement is continuing to grow as position players are now in camp and we are just a few days away from Mets baseball returning. It has been a busy news week and here is the recap of what we talked about here as well as at MMO.

Starting today we will be revealing our Top 15 Mets prospects, our last entry was shortstop Luis Guillorme at number 16.  Here you can read about all of the top 80 we have announced thus far.

We talked about the position players with the best tools in the Mets farm system including Dominic Smith receiving a vote for best pure hitter.

Recap of where the Mets top prospects placed in all of the national lists.

Baseball Propsectus released their top 10 Mets prospect lists with shortstop/second baseman Luis Carpio surprising at number three.

We named our top 5 second base prospects in the Mets system including 2015 draft pick Vinny Siena.

Injury updates from Port St. Lucie on outfield prospect Brandon Nimmo and shortstop prospect Gavin Cecchini who received a cortisone shot in his left arm.

Baseball America ranked Dominic Smith are their fifth best first base prospect in baseball.

Taking a look back at the Mets top 10 prospects from 1986, Kevin Elster leads the pack.

Coming up this week we will have the next five players in our top 80 prospect countdown, our top 5 third base prospects, and will begin looking at the upcoming June draft.

Rafael Montero and Logan Verrett are going to start the first two Grapefruit League games of the year.  On Tuesday, Sean Gilmartin and Robert Gsellman will face off in an intrasquad game.
